My pictures are very noisy.

I am grateful for any help that would allow me to do better noise reduction.

For the time being, I simply assume that the strong noise in all of my pictures is due to the special location of my observation site: Under a white, light-polluted sky, in the middle of a city and five street lamps that remain in operation all night long, surrounded by entrance lightings and lighted windows of nearby houses, 3 m underfloor, at the bottom of a concrete stairway and right next to the glazed entrance to the heated kitchen. In general, of course, all the many shortcomings of my pictures are due to my inability and not the equipment used.

However, the images can show that in the midst of a city culture hostile to astronomy - in the truest sense of the word 'backyard' - a modest amount of astrophotography is still possible.

Perhaps it is precisely what fascinates me about today's astrophotography that it is also possible where no 'normal' thinking person would operate it.

Of course I will not win any prizes with my pictures here. It is not my intention either.

But hey, look at this pair of galaxies! It is immediately recognizable and it even shows certain structures! Or not? And this from the comfort of my 'kitchen window'. What do I want more? After all, it is about 30.7 million light years away.

Messier could only have dreamed of such a resolution - even under the darkest sky.

Meine Bilder sind stark verrauscht.

Ich bin für jede Hilfe dankbar, die mir es erlauben würde, eine bessere Rauschreduzierung hinzukriegen.

Vorläufig nehme ich einfach an, dass das starke Rauschen in allen meinen Bildern der besonderen Lage meines Beobachtungsstandortes geschuldet ist: Unter hellem durch Licht verschmutztem Himmel, inmitten einer Stadt und fünf Strassenlaternen, die die ganze Nacht hindurch in Betrieb bleiben, umgeben von Eingangsbeleuchtungen und erhellten Fenstern nahe stehender Häuser, 3 m unter Flur, am unteren Ende eines betonierten Treppenabganges und direkt neben dem verglasten Hauseingang zur beheizten Küche. Generell sind aber all die vielen Mängel meiner Bilder selbstredend meinem Unvermögen anzulasten und nicht dem eingesetzten Equipment.

Die Bilder können aber zeigen, dass inmitten einer der Astronomie feindlichen Stadtkultur - im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes 'backyard' - dennoch ein bescheidenes Mass an Astrofotografie möglich ist.

Vielleicht ist es auch gerade das, was mich an der heutigen Astrofotografie fasziniert, dass sie auch dort möglich ist, wo kein 'normal' denkender Mensch, sie betreiben würde.

Natürlich werde ich mit meinen Bildern hier keine Preise gewinnen. Das ist auch nicht meine Absicht.

Aber hey, schau Dir mal dieses Galaxienpaar an! Es ist auf Anhieb zu erkennen und es zeigt sogar gewisse Strukturen! Oder nicht? Und das bequem von meinem 'Küchenfenster' aus. Was will ich eigentlich mehr? Es ist schliesslich ca. 30.7 Millionen Lichtjahre entfernt.

Messier hätte von einer solchen Auflösung nur träumen können - auch unter dunkelstem Himmel.
